VLM is apprearing on a Blue Worm Records CD compilation coming out this summer. keep yer eyes peeled. Blueworm Records Compilation

VLM has been in the studio lately. We recorded the 3 songs appearing on the Blueworm Records Compilation mention above ("The Count", "Ocho De Mayo", and "Victim Of Circus Stamps") as well as a new version of "Drowning" and 3 of the covers we did for the "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" covers show ("Big Pant Kids" from Kruddler, "Worship" from Housebreaker, and "Cold Tile Floor" from Unbelievable Jolly Machine) The songs were recorded by the wonderful Brian Herb of Mother Of All Music studio, Minneapolis. Give Brian a jingle at 612-874-9529 or email him at [email protected]. For all your recording studio needs, call your Mother.

VLM will be back in the studio soon recording some more of the new material including a song for an upcoming die kreutzen (dust off your touch+go catalog for more info) tribute record coming out on erosion records. yowza.

vlm will be posting a few full-bandwidth cd-quality (128 Kbps) and decent quality (but much smaller file size and download time) MP3s of various songs from small pet o.k., something in french, the 7"s including unreleased and older songs on a rotating basis. keep checking back here for the current batch of songs.

also keep an eye out for our vlm dyi mp3 diskette-only releases. a full-bandwidth mp3-encoded vlm song (hey, we didn't say they were long songs) on a 1.44M dos diskette. we've got a lot of those aol disks and we're going to use 'em.

here are a few hints on downloading and playing the Vooodoo Love Mint sound files;
  • if your computer and web browser are set up to handle MP3 (or Real Audio) sound files, you can just click with your left mouse button on any of the song titles like this one - Bar Song . Your web browser will then download the song and play it.
  • if your computer and browser are not set up the handle MP3 files, you will either see garbage on the screen (Netscape) or a "File Download" dialog box (Internet Explorer) asking you to either "Open this file from its current location" or "Save this file to disk." Choose the "Save this file to disk" option, press OK and proceed to the next hint.
  • alternately, you can click on the song title with the right mouse button to bring up a menu that offers, among other things, to "Save link as..." (Netscape) or "Save Target As..." (Internet Explorer). select these menu items to download the sound files and save them on your computer. you may then use an MP3 player such as Winamp or Sonique to play the MP3 files.
  • mp3.com has a good guide on getting started with MP3 files here.
  • look to the right of the song titles at the descriptions of the sound files. here you will see what type of sound file it is (MP3 or Real Audio - Real Audio files can be treated the same way as MP3 files except they need to be played with the Real Player) and its size (related to the quality of the music in the sound file - better quality (128 Kbps or near cd-quality) means bigger sound files and longer download times). some of these sound files are large and could take a while to download using a standard dial-up internet connection.

PRESS
About our new album - "small pet o.k."

"... a collection of concise, smart, hum-able pop. It harmonizes like Jawbox, goofs off like Kenickie, and rocks like Pennywise ... you're going to like it whether you decide you're going to or not."
Saiki Defrances, Minnesota Daily, Mpls, MN

"Short tunes with deep pockets ... Instant classics ... A thrashing good time with obvious nods to The Ramones, Voodoo Love Mint are the pause that refreshes. Try some now."
John Noyd, Maximum Ink, Madison WI

"Voodoo Love Mint has perfected their hooks and grooves on 'Small Pet O.K.'; fun energy anda go get 'em motherfucker mentality injected a small pet with lots of stimulants. Check it. (4)" Lick Magazine, [email protected], Mpls, MN

About our first full-length album - "Something In French"

"More noise pop from the Midwest, this loud debut from VLM is a punchy little number that quickly becomes addictive ... VLM plays loose and loaded, barreling through their tunes like drugged out jack rabbits ... very cool ... the best comparison would be between UNSANE and old DEVO ... really."
Slug - Salt Lake City, UT

"Voodoo Love Mint has been rightfully raved in all the press they get ... heavy, thick and raw around the edges. But look at it closely and one can see bit of crystal sparkling and glinting in the light. Something In French is bursting with good vibes and energy."
The Squealer - St. Paul, MN

"Far too thick chords punch through a basic pop-punk song construction, with the odd backing noise elements ... I will give a big thumbs up to this album. Anyone from heavy pop heads to true punk rockers to just aficionados of fine music will dig this quite well enough ... Not a bad song in the bunch, and plenty of outright stunners. Knocked out all over again."
Aiding and Abetting - York, PA

Jon Worley's top 10 for 1996
Pillowfight Recordviews Ezine

"Some songs have some great hooks and changes, whereas other tunes are simple punk-edged rock'n'roll ditties. Actually, some of the songs are pretty damn good, much like a melodic, less heavier Jesus Lizard."
Angry Thoreauan - Anaheim, CA
